Alice Springs Weather
Alice Springs, unlike the Top End of the Northern Territory where you really only expect two weather seasons throughout the year, dry and wet, here in Alice Springs you can still pack accordingly to the four natural seasons; spring, autumn, summer, and winter. With hot steamy days through summer where the shade of a gum tree looks really inviting and storms roll in come late afternoon and temperate days where the sky is clear and the nights are cool temps during winter.
Alice Springs has a semi-arid climate where summer runs from December through to February, winter is from June to August, and Spring is around September and October. Summer is hot during the day and balmy come nightfall where winter can drop in temperature so come nightfall you are certainly going to need a good jumper to rug up in. Light clothing, shorts and T-shirts and lots of sunscreens are all that will be needed during the hot seasons, where spring and autumn see beautiful temperatures that just beacon you to come out and explore.
No matter how hot it gets in Alice Springs you can still relax in air-conditioned comfort, whether you are touring around on a luxury coach for the day to see the sights or sitting in your air-conditioned room or perhaps even lazing by your pool, there are many ways in which you can enjoy to stay cool. The hottest temperature during summer, December to February, can reach up to the high 30s and fall around the mid 20’s come nightfall which usually sees storms roll in during the late afternoon and can be somewhat of an attraction as you watch the lightening shows display in the sky.
March through to May sees the lowest temperatures with day temps sitting at around a maximum of 27 degrees during the day and 12 degrees at night which is when you can put your central heating in your holiday accommodation to good use. June to August see tempt at around 20 degrees through the day and 3 degrees at times at night and from September to November a holiday here during these times can be the best with temperatures at a very comfortable 30 degrees maximum and 14 minimum.
Unlike other places in Australia where the heat can be very humid and sticky, the heat in Alice Springs is very dry heat, so even though temperatures are high it still doesn’t feel too bad. You would expect to find a dry and desert town within Alice Springs, but instead, there are beautiful gardens, shady parks, picnic grounds to relax in, watering holes, swimming pools and plenty of exciting attractions and activities that are great for all types of weather.
