ITINERARY [DB9]
Day 1:: Darwin to Victoria River
You begin the adventure travelling south down “The Track” (Stuart Hwy) to Edith Falls where you break for a refreshing swim. Continuing south you have a short stop at Katherine Gorge before heading west towards the Western Australian wilderness. You set up camp beside the Victoria River for the first night together. Overnight bush camp. (LD)
Day 2:: Victoria River to Kununurra
Up early this morning as you cross the border into Western Australia and visit the largest man-made lake in Australia – Lake Argyle and explore the area before heading for the capital of the north – Kununurra and the overnight campsite. (BLD)
Day 3 :: Kununurra to Bungle Bungles
Explore Kununurra, the town of the Ord River Scheme, and the scenic Hidden Valley National Park. Then sit back and admire the awesome views of the Carr Boyd and Durack Ranges as you head to Turkey Creek. Next, it’s time to buckle up and hold on for the challenging 4WD trip into the Bungle Bungle National Park. (BLD)
Day 4:: Bungle Bungles National Park
You spend the full day exploring the Bungle Bungle Ranges, visiting Frog Hole, Echidna Chasm, and the Cathedral Gorge. There’s also time for an optional scenic helicopter flight (at own expense) over the Bungles. You complete the day with another amazing sunset. (BLD)
Day 5:: Bungle Bungles to El Questro
Leaving the Bungle Bungle you take a short break at Turkey Creek before travelling onto Wyndham and the Five Rivers Lookout. Overnight camp at El Questro. (BLD)
Day 6:: El Questro Statio to Gibb River Road
Up early we hike into the beautiful Cockburn Ranges for a refreshing swim under the waterfall at Emma Gorge before starting our journey over the Pentecost River and along the Gibb River Road. (BLD)
Day 7:: Gibb River Road and Gorges
A day of swimming and hiking as you explore some of these striking gorges: Barnett, Manning, Galvins, or Adcock, depending on the time of year. Overnight bush camp. (BLD)
Day 8:: Manning Gorge to Windjana Gorge
Today you explore Galvins or Adcock Gorge (seasonal) before making the way to Windjana Gorge, known for its abundant freshwater crocodiles. It’s also the camp for the night. (BLD)
Day 9:: Windjana Gorge to Broome
You head towards the Napier Range and the fascinating 750-metre underground tunnel of Tunnel Creek, an area rich in bushranger history. Making tracks, you head towards Broome and stop briefly at Willare Bridge, where a rushing torrent of water flows in the mighty Fitzroy River (seasonal). Late afternoon you arrive in Broome, the aim is to catch up brilliant Cable Beach sunset. (BL)
