3 DAY KAKADU AND TWIN FALLS ADVENTURE

Day 1: Darwin – Kakadu
Travel into Kakadu National Park. Take a guided walk to view Aboriginal rock art at Nourlangie Rock. After lunch, join the famous Yellow Water Billabong Cruise and later, visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre and view the informative displays and exhibits.
Accommodation: Kakadu Lodge (Moderate) or Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel (Superior), Kakadu, 2 nights.

Day 2: Jim Jim and Twin Falls
Travel by 4WD to Jim Jim Falls carpark from where it is a 900-metre bushwalk to the Jim Jim Falls plunge pool. At the plunge pool, there is time for swimming, relaxing and enjoying the spectacular scenery. Morning tea will also be served. After exploring Jim Jim Falls we travel to the day-use area for a picnic lunch. After lunch, we board boats to travel up the first part of the gorge. Following this there is a 45-minute walk over slippery rocks with sand and along rock ledges. Relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery at the base of the falls. Today’s tour is only suitable for people with a good level of fitness.

Day 3: Kakadu – Darwin
This morning stop at Ubirr for a short walk to view Aboriginal rock art. Join the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River in search of saltwater crocodiles. We have an Aboriginal guide with us and with the special permission of the local people, we will be able to go ashore in Arnhem Land. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre. There is time for an optional 30-minute scenic flight ($120) over the Arnhem Land Escarpment. Return to Darwin.

Day 1: Darwin – Kakadu
Travel via the Adelaide River and the Marrakai Plains into Kakadu National Park. Take a guided walk to view Aboriginal rock art at Nourlangie Rock. After lunch join the Yellow Water Billabong Cruise to observe saltwater crocodiles. Visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre.

Day 2: Arnhem Land by 4-Wheel Drive
An early start this morning as we travel by 4 Wheel Drive vehicle into Arnhem Land and the Mikinj Valley. We travel through spectacular scenery including sandstone outcrops, escarpments, forests and floodplains. Learn about traditional land ownership, bush skills and ‘bush tucker’. View Aboriginal rock art. Most tours are accompanied by an Aboriginal guide.

Day 3: Kakadu – Darwin
This morning stop at Ubirr for a short walk to view Aboriginal rock art. Join the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River in search of saltwater crocodiles. We have an Aboriginal guide with us who will take us ashore in Arnhem Land. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre. Take a 30-minute scenic flight ($120) over the Arnhem Land Escarpment. Return to Darwin.

Day 1: Darwin – Kakadu
Travel through the Marrakai Plains and deep into Kakadu National Park. View ancient Aboriginal rock art at Nourlangie Rock. After lunch at Cooinda, we join our local guide for a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong where there is the opportunity to see bird life and saltwater crocodiles. Later visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre and view displays and exhibits depicting the traditions of the Aboriginal people in Kakadu.

Day 3: Litchfield National Park – Darwin
Leaving Darwin, we follow the Stuart Highway via the township of Batchelor to Litchfield National Park. Visiting the main falls of the Park, you have the opportunity for scenic and interpretive bush and monsoon vine forest walks. View Florence Falls before making your way down the stairs to the plunge pool below with an opportunity to swim. Visit Tolmer Falls for a magnificent view of the water cascading down to the deep waterhole below. We venture to Wangi Falls for another opportunity for a swim in the large crystal clear pool and an optional steady climb through the rainforest to the top of the falls. During the day we stop for a picnic lunch. A great day also for taking many interesting photos, including the amazing stand of termite mounds.

We join the famous Jumping Crocodile Cruise, where your local guide will entice crocodiles to leap from the water. Enjoy lunch before continuing to Kakadu National Park. Day 3: Katherine – Darwin
Enjoy a breakfast cruise through Katherine Gorge and be amazed by its sheer sandstone cliffs. Inspect the National Park Information Centre. Continue to beautiful Edith Falls, where there is time to take a refreshing swim (conditions permitting). Visit the Adelaide River War Cemetery before returning to Darwin.

Travel south from Darwin and stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery. Continue to Edith Falls, where there is time for a refreshing swim (conditions permitting). Enjoy lunch onboard a 2-hour scenic cruise through Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park. There is a short walk to reach the second gorge. Enjoy a brief tour of Katherine before returning to Darwin. An evening stop is made at Adelaide River where you may purchase dinner (own expense) such as the famous ‘Barra and Chips’.
