What to expect

You'll be collected from your hotel early and driven to the base of Uluru in a comfortable Sprinter van. The walk begins while it's still dim, positioning you at ground level as light hits the rock. Colours shift gradually as you move around the base on easy, level ground. Your guide shares knowledge of the landscape's cultural importance to the Anangu people and answers questions as you walk. Breakfast—a light outback picnic—is eaten along the route with tea and coffee supplied. The whole outing takes around 6 hours including transport.

Moderate fitness required; this isn't suitable if you have cardiovascular concerns. Wear comfortable walking shoes for the flat terrain. The park entry fee (valid 72 hours) is paid separately on arrival. Let the operator know about dietary needs when booking.
