3 DAY ALICE SPRINGS TO KINGS CANYON

Day 1: Alice Springs – Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Travel through the West MacDonnell and James Ranges. Visit a camel farm for an optional camel ride (own expense) and later stop to view majestic Atila (Mt. Conner), before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort. This afternoon visit Kata Tjuta and explore Walpa Gorge. Travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Enjoy nibbles and a complimentary glass of wine whilst watching the sunset and the changing colours of Uluru.

Day 2: Uluru (Ayers Rock) – Kings Canyon
This morning join the Uluru Sunrise, Climb and Base Tour (Y18) or for the non-climbers, the Uluru Sunrise and Guided Cultural Walk (Y41). Both tours include a visit to Mutitjulu Waterhole and the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. In the afternoon travel to Kings Canyon. There may be time to view the sunset behind Carmichaels Crag.

Day 3: Kings Canyon – Alice Springs or Ayers Rock Resort
This morning join a guided climb to the rim of Kings Canyon for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park (for those with a good level of fitness, sturdy shoes are required). An easier walk along the boulder-strewn canyon floor is also available. Enjoy lunch at Kings Canyon Resort (own expense) before travelling to Alice Springs or returning to Ayers Rock Resort.

3 DAY RED CENTRE HIGHLIGHTS

Day 1: Alice Springs – Kata Tjuta (the Olgas)
Travel from Alice Springs to Ayers Rock Resort stopping to view majestic Atila (Mt. Conner). This afternoon tour to Kata Tjuta and enjoy a 2-3 hour walk to the Valley of the Winds lookout. The walking path is rocky and requires a good level of fitness. View a majestic ‘outback’ sunset before travelling to our barbecue venue to enjoy a delicious barbecue dinner and stargazing (weather permitting). Vegetarian meals are available upon request at the time of booking.

Day 2: Uluru (Ayers Rock)
This morning join the Uluru Sunrise, Climb and Base Tour (Y18) or the Uluru Sunrise and Guided Cultural Walk (Y41). Both tours include a visit to Mutitjulu Waterhole and the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. See page 16/17 for more itinerary details. There is time for an optional scenic flight (own expense). This evening watches the sunset at Uluru whilst enjoying a complimentary glass of wine.

Day 3: Kings Canyon – Alice Springs
An early start from Ayers Rock Resort should reward us with a magnificent desert sunrise en route to Kings Canyon. We drive through sandhill country towards Kings Creek Station where breakfast may be purchased (own expense). Continue to Watarrka National Park where you can make the rocky climb to the rim of the canyon to be rewarded with breathtaking views of the park and into the canyon itself. The climb may take up to 3 hours and is recommended for those with a good level of fitness. Alternatively, you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor, an easier shady walk that follows the trail between the two sheer walls of the canyon. Stop at Kings Canyon Resort to purchase lunch (own expense) before returning to Alice Springs.

Day 1: Welcome to Alice Springs
On arrival in Alice Springs, you will be transferred to your hotel (flights anytime).

Day 2: Alice Springs – Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Travel through the West MacDonnell and James Ranges. Stop at a camel farm for a camel ride (own expense) and later stop to view majestic Atila (Mt. Conner), before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort. Travel to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). Walk between the domes in Walpa Gorge, before travelling to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Watch the sunset and the changing colours of Uluru while enjoying complimentary wine. You have the option of continuing on to our exclusive venue for an Aussie Barbecue Dinner with Uluru as your backdrop.

Day 3: Uluru Sunrise & Base Tour – Farewell from Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Rise early to watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre and Uluru alight. Make your way to the viewing platform to see many kilometres into the distance. After sunrise join your Driver Guide for a drive around the base of Uluru. Continue to the Mutitjulu Walk where you will be escorted to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. See Aboriginal rock art and hear about the Aboriginal and European history of the area. Visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. It houses an amazing collection of original ceramics, paintings and punu (woodwork) that provide an insight into the unique and spiritual culture of the Anangu people, the traditional custodians of Uluru. In the afternoon you’ll be transferred to Ayers Rock Airport for your onward flight (flights to depart after 12.30 pm).
